Resident orcas: I15's, Biggs Transients and Humpback Whales!

It was a beautiful day and the I15's once again spent the day in Johnstone Strait. On the morning tour we encountered them off "the Cliff" and opposite to the Robson Bight Echological Reserve and we travelled back to Big Bay with them as they made their way west in the Strait. There were several sightings of small groups of dall's porpoises throughout the tour. On the afternoon tour we caught up to them again near the Sophia Islets as they were making their way, this time to the east in the Strait, we also saw a humpback whale at Cracroft Point on our way home and two more were seen off the Plumper Islands in Weynton Passage. The two eaglets from the nest that we have been observing were nowhere to be seen today having now fledged but were likely not far away. At the end of our tour we had an exciting and surprise viewing of Biggs (Transient) Orcas as we were nearing Alder/ Alert Bay when two orcas were seen travelling rapidly at 5 knots +, they were travelling to the west behind us when we first saw them. They were identified by Christie and Jared as: T100c and T100e, T100 their mother was not seen travelling with them during our sighting. Also seen today: harbour seals, rhinoceros auklets, common murres, fork-tailed storm petrels, black oyster catchers, bald eagles and gull species.
