Beautiful BC coastal waters with Resident Orcas, Humpback Whales, Dolphins & Porpoises ~ with relaxed & wonderful viewing!

It was another beautiful day on the water, the Coast Range Mountains were well-defined in the morning light and throughout the day the hues and hints of colours were ever-changing, it was a spectacular sight and a mesmerizing one where we couldn't help but gaze towards the mountain peaks again and again! Heading due north towards the Mainland Inlets where orcas were reported this morning we could see them a distance away, they were well spread out foraging and resting while turning back to the east and swimming against the ebbing current. They were resident orcas, the A30's and A42's, we could see A38 foraging well west of his family all morning and travelling back towards them (A30's) this afternoon as all of them made their way further east. We observed foraging and resting as well playful behaviour between the younger calves. Humpback whales were ever-present today, we saw two in passing on our way through Cormorant Channel this morning and two more in Weynton Passage, one was in the near vicinity alongside the orcas as were pacific white-sided dolphins and dall's porpoises. One humpback whale we could hear and then observed it tail lobbing +++  a distance away while other humpbacks were also seen. It truly was a wonderful day to sit drifting with our engine off, listening to the beautiful A-Clan calls of the orcas, as well to listen to their blows and that of the larger humpback whales, especially when one of them was heard trumpeting! Their sound effects along with the calling of the common murres and gulls added greatly to our day. As is so often the case, again today we had returning passengers who have been, Rob & Karen, several times before and Susan and her daughters, before as well and all the way from WA, USA. It is so appreciated to have our guests return, and to share with them once again our "Paradise Bubble"! Also seen: harbour seals, a stellar sea-lion, common murres, rhinoceros auklets, fork-tailed storm petrels, bald eagles, double crested cormorants and gull species.
