A beautiful mix of Humpback Whales and Orcas ~ the A42s!

Today's Sightings: Northern Resident Orca's: A42s on our afternoon tour, Harbour seals, Stellar Sea lions, Dall's Porpoises, Bald Eagles, Belted Kingfishers, Red-necked Phalaropes++, California and Herring Gulls, Cassin's Auklets, Common Murres, Black Oystercatchers and Black Turnstones. There were also three Humpback Whales sighted on both of our tours, Freckles being one that we identified.

Our area is ever changing with sightings of marine mammals and seabirds with every tour being unique and different from all previous tours that we have ever operated.  Just like the weather we never know from one hour to the next what we will experience and when!

It was an absolutely glorious morning with Humpback Whales sighted early. The White Cliff Islands were picturesque, surrounded by blue waters and sparkling sunshine. It was a beautiful place from which to scan far out into the Queen Charlotte Strait and to look at in awe, the Coast Range Mountains of Mainland B.C.

We encountered orcas, the A42s mid Johnstone Strait on our afternoon tour, they were travelling and they were quiet when we deployed our hydrophone. Our viewing time with them was breathtaking and special where the lighting was superb!

Touring through numerous island waterways on our way home it was interesting to stop and watch a young eaglet in its nest, exercising and strengthening its wings in preparation for fledging the nest! The DFO Test Fishery Seiner hauling in its net added great interest for everyone when we stopped to watch them on our way home.
