"Abundant and Awesome Everywhere we Looked"

Technology was challenging today because there was a major Hydro and Internet outage on the North Island that occurred at 10:37 a.m. this morning. But this was not a problem for our passengers waiting to go out on their tour for they had no need for either Hydro or the Internet. Instead they were all excited and eager to go out and explore nature's ever-changing environment.

With the rain ending and the low clouds beginning to lift along Vancouver Island and the Mainland of the BC coastline,  our passengers attention quickly turned to happenings on the water where there was an array of super sightings!

Humpback Whales were in their glory and there were fantastic sightings of them lunge feeding on bait balls in and around the feeding frenzies of diving birds, those below the water and gulls and Bald Eagles above. It seemed there was bird activity everywhere we went today. Some lucky passengers even got to see a breaching humpback in the distance as our first sightings of two Humpback Whales was in Pearse Passage, shortly after we left the dock in Alder Bay.

Several Dall's Porpoises put on quite a show whilst passengers watched them and some 4-5 Humpbacks  that were feeding nearby. In total we saw some 13-15 whales. Travelling back through the Plumper Islands we saw numerous Sea Lions, some were in the water but most were hauled out on rocky outcrops.
