Resident Orcas, Humpback Whales, Sea Lions, Seals, a Mink and so much more!

September 9th, 2016.

Due to internet problems, we were unable to load our blog last evening.

Our sightings: Northern Resident Orcas, Humpback Whales, Dall's Porpoises, Steller Sea Lions, Harbour Seals, Rhinoceros and Cassin's Auklets, Red-Necked Phalaropes, Common Murres, Bald Eagles, a Great Blue Heron, Sooty Shearwaters, a Mink and Gulls.

Our departure timing could not have been more perfect today as Orcas were swimming very slowly in Weynton Passage when we made our crossing from Alder Bay. The A30s were grouped up and travelling very close together near the Plumper Islands, A50 / A54 and their off-spring. There was alot of socializing taking place, especially between the younger calves with spyhops, tail slaps, nudging and rolling over one another behaviour observed! They were silent in their movement and vocals were not heard via our hydrophone. The viewing was timely and beautiful!

Our Humpback Whale viewing was fabulous, some ten whales were seen overall; Slash and her calf and Inukshuk were among the count! Steller Sea Lions, Harbour Seals and a Mink running along a beach added greatly to the breathtaking beauty of all that was in our surroundings!
